Google Maps Lead Data: What Real Scans Returned

What We Ran

On 24 September 2026 we ran LeadTrapper’s Google Maps scraper on one ordinary internet connection and kept every result. One run was a full scan, and the others were capped at 60 businesses to keep them short. This article reports what came back, including the runs that failed. It is not a survey. Each result is one search on one day, and a capped run is the first 60 businesses the scan returned in the first area that answered, not a random sample.

The Results

Every row also had an address, and every business in the Dubai and Cairo runs had a rating and a review count. The Amman run predates a fix to the rating column, so its rating was not measured.

What Stands Out

Phone is the reliable column. 93% to 99% of businesses had a phone number, because a Google Maps listing is built around one. Many of those numbers are landlines, and some will be out of date, which is why the phone accuracy guide recommends testing a sample.

Website depends on the niche. 97% of the Dubai real estate agencies listed a website, against 69% and 73% of the dentists. This sample is small, so read it as a hint that agencies are more likely to have a site.

Email is the weak column, and it follows the website. LeadTrapper reads an email from the business’s own website, so no website means no email. That is why the real estate agencies, with almost all of them on the web, had 47% emails against 15% and 18% for the dentists. Social links and the WhatsApp link work the same way: they appear only when the business shows them on its site.

Speed

Once rows started, the pace was close to the same in all three runs: about 7.6 seconds a business in Amman, 8.0 in Dubai and 7.2 in Cairo, or roughly seven to eight businesses a minute. The scraper opens each business one at a time, so a scan takes as long as its length says. What varied was the wait before the first row: 80 seconds in Amman, 90 in Cairo and 280 in Dubai, where the first searches were refused and had to be retried.

When Google Refused

Two of the four runs we started that afternoon returned nothing. In the Dubai dentists run and the London dentists run, Google Maps answered valid searches with “cannot find” on every try, and LeadTrapper gave up after three tries per area and said so. In the Dubai real estate run, the first two areas were refused and the third worked, and LeadTrapper finished with a warning that 2 of 8 areas had returned nothing.

This looks like Google’s behavior rather than a problem with a city or an industry: Dubai was refused early that afternoon, refused again for dentists, and worked for real estate agencies later. A run that failed in the same afternoon worked when we tried again. We do not know what triggers it, so we can only report what we saw. LeadTrapper 2.1.35 retries each area in a fresh session, stops when Google keeps refusing instead of hammering it, keeps what it already collected, and tells you what happened. If a scan returns nothing, wait a little and run it again, or try another internet connection.

What to Do With the List

Treat the export as a starting point. Run it through the WhatsApp Number Filter before you message it, since a listed number is not always a WhatsApp number.
