Warm-Up vs Ghost Chatting vs Delays: What Each Does

They aren’t five versions of the same thing. Warm-up, delays, the reply-ratio governor, Ghost Chatting and the per-account proxy each answer a different question about how an account looks, and each one acts at a different moment. Mixing them up is the most common mistake, because several of them add activity or slow things down, so they sound alike. This is the short guide to which is which, checked against how LeadTrapper actually implements each.

The Five Features at a Glance

Warm-Up: History, Before the Campaign

Warming is the only feature here that creates message history. Two or more of your own accounts exchange real messages, in private chats with the Account Warmer or in shared groups with the Group Warmer, so a new or long-dormant number doesn’t make a bulk campaign its first activity.

You run it yourself, ahead of time, and it needs at least two connected accounts either way. A single account can’t be warmed against itself.

Delays: How Fast It Sends

Delays are about speed and nothing else. The Delay Calculator works out a minimum and maximum wait from your actual campaign: the hours you want it to take, how many messages, how many accounts, and the batch size. Campaign Builder won’t send until you’ve run it once, and afterward the delay fields are read-only. In the article’s worked example, a 500-message campaign across 10 accounts over 8 hours comes out at roughly 3 to 5 seconds between messages.

A slow campaign from a number with no history is still a number with no history, which is why pacing doesn’t replace warming.

The Governor: Whether Replies Keep Up

The IO Balance Governor watches the proportion of messages going out to messages coming in. When an account’s outbound-to-inbound ratio crosses 10 to 1, it doubles the delay between messages, and it re-checks after every message, so it relaxes again as replies arrive. Below 20 outbound messages with no replies at all, it treats the ratio as balanced rather than flagging a brand-new account’s first few sends.

That 10 to 1 line is LeadTrapper’s own engineering assumption, not a number WhatsApp publishes. The Governor slows sending; it never blocks a message. If it keeps kicking in, the fix is getting real replies, not switching it off.

Ghost Chatting: Whether the Session Looks Alive

Ghost Chatting is the one most often confused with warm-up, because both put non-campaign activity into an account. The difference is what they produce. Warm-up sends real messages between your accounts. Ghost Chatting sends nothing.

Every 12 to 18 outbound messages, with the exact count randomized, it briefly opens a different one-on-one chat inside the same WhatsApp Web session, scrolls it slightly, and holds for three to five seconds before sending resumes. It skips groups and the contact currently being messaged. What it changes is the shape of the session, so it isn’t nothing but send, send, send, and it has no effect on message history.

Three Mix-Ups Worth Clearing Up

Delays and the governor both slow sending, so people treat them as one setting. They aren’t. Delays are fixed before the campaign from your own numbers. The governor changes the pace by itself while the campaign runs, and only in response to how many replies are coming back.

Warm-up and Ghost Chatting both add activity that isn’t the campaign, but only one of them leaves a record. Warm-up sends messages that still exist afterward in the chats of both accounts. Ghost Chatting leaves nothing behind except a “Ghost last event” timestamp on the telemetry panel.

The third is the assumption that more features means more protection. The governor’s 10 to 1 line, Ghost Chatting’s 12 to 18 window and the warmers’ 10-failure limit are LeadTrapper’s own design choices, and WhatsApp doesn’t publish any of those numbers. That’s why the honest claim for all of it is “reduces a named pattern”, never “prevents bans”.

Which Ones You Actually Need

It depends on the situation, and no combination guarantees anything, but here’s how they line up.

A brand-new number that hasn’t done anything yet is the warm-up case, and it needs a second account to do it with. A dormant number that’s about to restart is the same.
